Season 1, Episode 25: The Official Cookie of North Carolina, Nom’s Bake Shop, Biscotto Cookies, and an interview with Anne Yorks of Flour Box Bakery
May is almost DONE and we finish the month STRONG! This month, we explore some great cookie businesses and some government approved “official” cookies:
- Moravian Cookie Makers Hopeful That State Symbol Will Attract More Customers– Winston-Salem Journal
- Dad’s Hobby Bakes Up A Business For Phoenix Family Cookie Company Noms Bake Shop– AZ Central
- Biscotto Cookies Cheers On The Milwaukee Bucks With Tasty Treats!– Fox 6 Now
The conversation bounces from GREAT baseball nicknames to ASMR videos! Mr. John also takes sometime to interview Anne Yorks of Flour Box Bakery.
During or chat about official “state” cookies, I mentioned California having the fortune cookie as it’s official cookie. This is due to it’s long history with the cookie in San Francisco. However, after taping, I looked into the origin of fortune cookies. It appears as if they were first made in Kyoto, Japan in the 19th Century and then later popularized in the US by Benkyodo in San Francisco in the 1890’s or early 1900’s.
Toward the end of the show, Arty mentions the “Patches”. Did you know that members of McGoo U can earn patches? You can earn patches for your official Arty McGoo “M” Letter by completing a variety of tasks. Check out the info HERE.
