Are you ready for some football?
Ready or not we are in the thick of football season. Whether you go sit under the Friday night lights at your local football field every week, watch professional football in the comfort of your recliner at home, or only think about football when it is in cookie form, I think everyone is a fan of re-purposing cookie cutter shapes. Goooo team cookie!
For my September addition to my series that I started last month “A Year of Cookies: One Cutter,” I thought it was a good idea to change my Circus Ringmaster into a football player and football (I am one of those fans in the stands every Friday at the high school football games; though I’m just there for the halftime show where my son plays the saxophone). I did end up doing a quick trim off the brim for both of these cookies.
I debated about whether to go simple with the face, but as I was decorating I couldn’t help but give him an intense glare. This idea would also look adorable using some black dragees as eyes and a simpler expression and it would be so easy to customize the colors for your team.
As you can see from the list below my “flying football” turned into a “flaming football”. The colors I was using on these cookies lent themselves to fire and I decided to embrace the flames. My original idea was to do stripes of color towards the football with sparkly sprinkles and stars thrown in for good measure. So many cookie ideas, so little time!
