McGoo U Online: April 2016

McGoo U: April 2016
We're focusing on some fun natural textures and themes this month in McGoo U.  Arty takes you step-by-step in creating her succulent terrarium, then shows how she creates her realistic butterfly on a mossy rock.  The final cookie explores the gorgeous texture of crackled paint that is the perfect background for any design and adds a little shelf of royal icing transfer succulents.

Techniques: piping, gravel, wafer paper, painting, moss, stone, and crackle texture.

We get to know the lovely Laurie Anglen of Cookie Bliss as we chat about why she keeps cookies her hobby and how she feels about being an empty-nester.

Expert Lab: April 2016
Our visiting guest professor Laurie Anglen of Cookie Bliss shows us how to add gorgeous dimension and how painting accentuates all the dimensional work we create with our royal icing.  Take your cookie design from pretty to gorgeous with her step by step tutorial.

Smart Cookie: April 2016
Arty focuses on how to get quick and fun textural backgrounds in a very short time.  Three techniques are explored: a slate finish, a glossy and vibrant glaze, and a simple canvas/burlap texture.

After School: April 2016
Brad asks Mr. John and Arty about the theme songs they've been working on for McGoo U and is a little underwhelmed by the music as it seems they are making up things off the top of their head... just an FYI: they are!

Extra Frosting: April 2016
There is always some frosting left over after a cookie project. Don't let it go to waste! This is the time to practice a technique or try something new. Earn a little extra credit and use up that extra frosting! All extra frosting segments are created spur of the moment, with no planning or designing, using the actual extra frosting leftover from McGoo U classes.
